Nedbank Business Banking has partnered with Liquor City and Lightstone Explore to offer franchising seminars in Johannesburg and Cape Town in May.

The seminars – on May 11 in Johannesburg and May 18 in Cape Town – bring together franchising experts to offer insights into the feasibility of operating a franchise.

Delegates will hear from some of South Africa’s leading minds in entrepreneurship, including Linda Reid, Chief Commercial Officer of geospatial and analytical expertise firm Lightstone Explore and Andrew Jardim from Liquor City who will share the success story of the national liquor store franchise brand that started as a family business and expanded to a corporate.

At a time when South Africa is braced for economic challenges due to the recent credit rating downgrades by S&P and Fitch, Nedbank recognises the contribution that franchising makes towards growing South Africa’s economy and the support needed to grow this industry. In 2016, the estimated turnover for the franchise industry was estimated at R493-billion.

Experts, like Reid, who will also be among the speakers, says the success of a franchise depends on many factors, and the client is central to several of these. “Lightstone Explore will take you on a journey through some of the things that you can control to maximise your chances of success, such as choosing the right location for your site, understanding the people and competitor dynamics in the area, and retaining the loyalty of your hard-won customer base,” she says.

“We believe the franchising networking seminars, drawing on the experiences of top sector specialists, offer fantastic opportunities for franchisees to reflect on their business, acquire new skills and network with like-minded people, which is an important part of our new brand ethos to encourage clients to see money differently,” says Laurette Pienaar, National Franchise Manager at Nedbank Business Banking.

Nedbank continues to contribute positively to the development of the sector for small and medium enterprises through various interventions. For more information on franchising seminars send an email to
